
The Associated Press is reporting that the legislative sponsors of a bill that seeks to abolish the
death penalty in Illinois have been invited to a signing ceremony at the offices of Illinois Governor
Pat Quinn tomorrow. They have been told that
Governor Quinn will be signing into law a bill that will abolish the
death penalty in Illinois. The new law would take effect on July 1. Illinois would join 15 other states and the District of Columbia without the
death penalty.
